Welcome the Outdoors In
April showers have brought May flowers and we are feeling the effects of nature all around. Let’s revel in the fact that the
outdoors are alive and vibrant and are truly inspirational. You can bring this euphoric feeling to the inside of your home with
some up-to-date ideas.
First, start by using the colors of nature- clear blue and mineral-like brown. Accented with sumptuous hues of coral and green, these colors deliver a gentle transition from outdoors to indoors. These colors can bring any room to life and give it
a fresh feeling. Cool, refreshing blues used for upholstery with art and accents in coral and green
will give just the right zest to a serene atmosphere.
Second, to further enhance the feeling of the outdoors inside your home, try using organically shaped elements. Organic shapes can be as simple as a paisley print or a nice floral design on a fabric. The gentle curving lines of an accent mirror and even
the carved floral accents with the smooth flowing frame of a caned chair can also be considered very organic.
Natural materials such as rattan, bamboo and wicker used for lamps, tables and
furniture can work in perfect unison with organic shapes. These natural elements
can mix well with contemporary, traditional, transitional and even eclectic interiors.
These decorative elements are easy to add to any decor and give your interiors a breath of fresh air. And, placed
along with botanical and floral prints as accents to upholstery fabric, window treatments and art; you can almost
smell the fresh flower blossoms.
The outdoors are inspiring and can give your home that since of vibrancy that it may be lacking.
Use the outdoors as your muse and you might even say that you can truly live in the outdoors year ‘round.
